DIY home office on a budget(part1)
I am so excited to share with u guys how we made the home office in our small 2 bedroom apartment. We have a decent size living room and in one corner we had a small desk and a bookshelf. it was very open and didn't give any privacy to study or work which made it very difficult to concentrate so we came up with this idea. We took into consideration two main aspects, a large desk and a good amount of storage as a divider wall.
Part 1- The Divider wall
Things you need
2 bookcases/bookshelves
2(1"x 4''x 83.5 "wood planks)
2(1"x4"x 49.5")
2(1"x4"x 49.5")
a piece of plywood (49 1/4 inches x40.5inches)
1(1"x10"x 49.5")
2(1"x10"x40.5")
2(1"x4"x20.5")
1(1"x2"X49.5")
wallpaper or stick and peel wall
50pk eyehooks
yarn of the color of your choice( we used 4 colors teal ,seagreen,skyblue and grey)
velcro
screws
matching canvas or frames
procedure
Take the measurements and cut the wood at either home depot or at home. we got all our wood cut at home depot and we opted for pre-primed wooden planks.they are amazing quality and saved us a lot of time painting and sanding. then we started assembling it. first, we screwed in the plywood at the back and then made the frame.
Once the frame was ready we gently placed it on the bookshelf. it easily slides in and is really snug. we kept about 1inch outwards (see the last picture)and secured it with screws. then we attached the 1x10 wood planks on all three sides. finally, the backbone of the divider wall was ready. we now began the string art .first we covered the entire inner frame with eyehooks at 3 inches apart and then we just had fun covering it entirely with yarn.
for the final step we used the peel and stick wall to cover up the plywood and finished it up with 1"x2"piece.

I wanted the decor on both the sides so we took 2 canvases and used iron on to print our favorite quotes on it then attached both the canvases with velcro and stappled a wooden stick in the middle, drilled a hole for hanging through an eye hook
for the final step we used the peel and stick wall to cover up the plywood and finished it up with 1"x2"piece.
The divider is amazing, adds so much privacy and elegance.
